Conditions for applying for Korean D4-1 visa
To apply for a Korean D4-1 visa, you need to meet the following conditions:
- Age: Usually 18 – 23 years old.
- Education: High school graduate or higher.
- Health: Good, no infectious diseases.
- Finance: Proof of ability to pay for tuition and living expenses during the study period in Korea.
- Certificate of Admission: You must have a certificate of admission from a university, college, or Korean language center recognized by the Korean government.
- Degree: For those who have graduated from university, college, or secondary school, this condition can be more flexible.
- GPA: Some schools require a high school GPA of 6.0 or higher.
- Passport: Valid for at least 6 months.
- Certificate of Admission: Original and copy.
- Health certificate: Performed at hospitals designated by the Embassy.
The processing time for a D4-1 visa is approximately 2 to 4 weeks. You need to submit your D4-1 visa application at the Korean Embassy or Consulate in Vietnam at least 2 months before entering Korea.

Application for D4-1 visa to study in Korea
When preparing your application for a D4-1 Korean visa , you need to prepare 4 main documents according to the regulations of the Korean Embassy. Below are the necessary documents to complete your D4-1 visa application:
1. General documents
– Korean visa application
– Passport valid for at least 180 days (original + copy of applicant information page).
– 1 photo (white background photo size 3.5*4.5cm, taken within the last 6 months).
– Admission letter.
– Copy of business registration certificate (or business code certificate) of the school in Korea.
– Copy of applicant’s ID card/CCCD.
– Certificate of tuberculosis test results, issued by a hospital designated by the Korean Embassy.
– Application form with detailed information of the applicant for a student visa/Korean language course.
2. Documents proving highest education level
– Original documents proving highest level of education with notarized translation.
+ Consularized academic documents at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must be submitted within 1 year from the date of visa application.
+ If the original consular confirmation has been submitted to the training institution, a copy can be submitted for comparison.
*Only temporary graduation certificates are accepted for 1 year from the date of graduation, calculated from the time of admission.
3. Documents proving financial capacity (parents provide financial support)
Original savings book and account balance confirmation of visa applicant
+ Capital region: minimum account balance of 10 million won and deposited within 6 months or more.
+ Other areas: minimum account balance of 8 million won and deposited within 6 months or more.
Note:
- Account balance certificate in Vietnamese Dong (VND) will be calculated at the current exchange rate on that day.
- Transferred savings books will be invalid.
Documents proving financial capacity to apply for Korean D4-1 visa
a. In case there are no direct parents to sponsor, other family members such as siblings or grandparents can stand up as financial sponsors.
– Notarized translation of documents such as household registration book, residence certificate, birth certificate (Korean or English).
– Original and notarized translation (Korean or English) of documents proving parents’ income and occupation.
– Original and notarized translation (Korean/English translation) of financial guarantee commitment documents.
– Documents proving other assets, if any.
b. In case there are no parents or both parents are living in Korea, a family member can be the financial guarantor.
– Notarized translation of household registration book, birth certificate, residence confirmation paper (Korean/English).
– The original of the professional identification document can be a professional certificate or a business registration certificate.
– Original copy of financial guarantee commitment for visa applicant and personal guarantee (signed & sealed).
– Original certified seal of the applicant’s financial guarantor.
– Documents proving the financial guarantor’s bank account balance and savings book (copy).
– Copy of ID card of the financial guarantor.
c. In case of guarantee by a professor (or representative) at a Korean school for research purposes
– Original financial guarantee from the Korean professor directly instructing (signed & sealed).
– Original copy of the seal sample certificate/signature confirmation certificate of the Korean professor who directly instructed. (In case of stamping, the seal sample certificate must be provided. In case of signing only, the signature confirmation certificate must be provided) .
– Original copy of the professional certificate of the supervising professor.
– A copy of the bank account balance confirmation document and a copy of the account book that the professor instructed.
– In case the scholarship payment is recorded as research expenses, documents such as: copy of account statement, certificate of financial capacity, or confirmation with school seal (training institution).
d. In case of financial guarantee company: Parent company in Korea, branch in Vietnam supports scholarship
– Labor contract with branch in Vietnam (copy).
– Notarized translation (Korean/English) of investment certificate for branch in Vietnam.
– Original copy of the parent company’s business registration certificate (BCC) in Korea issued within the last 3 months.
– Original certificate of financial guarantee commitment and personal guarantee (with seal of the guarantor company).
– Original certified seal of the sponsoring enterprise.
– Identity card/Citizen identification card of the representative director at the sponsoring enterprise (copy).
e. In case students receive scholarships
– 100% tuition and living expenses support: Original scholarship certificate with stamp identical to the stamp on the admission form.
– Supported under 100% of tuition and living expenses: Original, duly stamped scholarship certificate and documents proving financial capacity for the amounts you have to pay.
4. Some other documents as required by the Korean language program
– A detailed teaching plan, clearly presenting the subject schedule, teachers’ work schedule and learning facilities at the school.
– Study plan and self-introduction (students write in Korean or English).
